Writing About Your Characters’ Weddings

People typically recall weddings they’ve attended by remembering specific moments: tears during readings by maid of honor or that time the groom put the ring on her wrong hand and she had to pour water on it to get it off (thank you, we now remember that). These are what make each wedding truly unforgettable – so we want your characters’ weddings to include some memorable experiences too!

Wedding ceremonies are where couples make their biggest promises to one another. While traditionally this includes exchanging rings and vows, modern ceremonies often incorporate unique touches reflecting both couples’ traditions or personalities – as well as offering the chance for each person involved to share special memories from their relationship.

One way to give your wedding an intimate touch is to include members of your community as witnesses at the ceremony. This could include family, friends, or neighbors who have played an integral role in your character’s life – and is an opportunity for you to thank them all for supporting them throughout their lives.

If both characters are religious, a wedding ceremony can serve as an opportunity for them to acknowledge each other’s faiths and express them freely with one another. This could involve readings or prayers; oftentimes this allows your characters to contemplate their relationship with God. If either religion is Jewish, they might wish for their ketubah (Jewish marriage contract) to be read during the ceremony, typically featuring seven blessings and prayers; many ceremonies also provide English translations so non-Hebrew speaking guests can join in the celebration as well.

Your wedding should reflect who you are as an individual and the event can take many forms. When planning a big wedding event, sharing details about it may help connect readers to the story while building trust in your brand. Details could include food served, music played or dances performed; for vendors this could also include how and why couples hired them; every detail adds authenticity and relatability to your tale of wedding woe.
